Itinerary

Days 1 - 2
Arrive Delhi in time for evening welcome meeting. Discover the beating heart of Old Delhi. Its narrow streets burst with stores selling silk, copper and spices.

Days 3 - 5
Experience nomadic life on an overnight camel trek through the Thar Desert from Jaisalmer. Eat local specialties by the camp fire.

Days 6 - 7
Admire views of the colossal Meherangarh Fort in Jodhpur and wander among the vibrant saris and colourful produce of the Sadar Bazaar.

Days 8 - 10
India's most romantic city, Udaipur is a centre for artists and musicians. Get a traditional nail painting and have dinner at a rooftop restaurant.

Days 11 - 12
Mingle with holy men in spiritual Pushkar and perhaps take a walk to Savitri Temple for sunrise.

Days 13 - 14
Plenty of pink sandstone and the gorgeous detail of the Palace of the Winds is reason enough to visit Jaipur. See what all the hype is about at an optional Bollywood screening.

Day 15
Take a relaxing ride through Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary in Bhararpur. Otherwise, visit the surrounding villages to see development projects at work.

Days 16 - 17
Admire the elegant architecture of the Taj Mahal and uncover hidden views from the Red Fort.

Days 18 - 20
The holiest place for Hindus, Varanasi is a city of ritual and ceremony. For a heady experience walk the ghats and take it all in.

Days 21 - 22
Kolkata, the former capital of British India boasts dramatic colonial architecture. Tour ends Kolkata day 22.
